A year or two ago I stumbled acrosss an interesting website which I would like to find again but can’t seem to.
It was something of a virtual band. You could pick various band members / instruments, and then somehow select different parts/rifs to play. It was a fairly complex little piece of programming, and quite fun to play with. There were quite a selection of potential bandmembers if I remember correctly.
I believe you would then see your band on a stage jamming but you also had some degree of control over each of the parts. The mechanics are very fuzzy but I remember being fascinated with the thing. In particular I vaguely remember doing some cool regge (sp?).
This site is what reminded me of the other one and I’d like very much to find it again. It was all done right on the website, nothing to download.
Anyone remember a site like this? I wish I could give you more details than this but as I said, it’s all very vague in my memory.
Obviously, I’m confusing two different websites. This is definitely the one that was coming to mind visually with the bandmembers. Having seen that site has helped me to remember the other site in more detail (although still quite fuzzy)
Musically, the other site was much more complex. I remember a somewhat round (blue?) interface with different timescales and sections where you could set up different sounds (like the face of a watch divided into different sectiojns. Then on the sides there were all kinds of different types and styles of sounds that you could add. I remember that it took me a half hour or so just to learn how to manipulate it and get a feel for how it all worked. If I remember correctly you could also bring up a keyboard or drumset and use your mouse while the background music you had set up would keep playing. It seems like you could also have it record and playback what you had done. (did it playback in the form of a music video??? hmmmmm) Really quite interesting though.
