Help me find smallish bath towels for my 7 year old!

Your standard bath towel is about 50" long. That’s too much towel for the Firebug, age 7, to handle at bath time. But he’s getting too big to use a hand towel in lieu of a bath towel, which has been our solution up to this point. So I’m looking for a smallish bath towel, if such a thing exists - something in the 36" range, give or take a few inches, with proportional width.

Googling kids’ bath towels gets me - get this - towels that are either standard size, or even bigger, which perplexes the hell out of me. Anyone have better Google-fu, or already know of a place to buy smallish bath towels?

Target sells childrens’ bath towels by Circo that are slightly smaller than the regular adult bath towels my husband and I use. They come in cute designs, too, and with bundles of matching washcloths.

How about hair towels? 20x40"

(If you search Amazon for “hair towel” there are other options and sizes)

Thanks for the tips, y’all! I knew I could count on my fellow Dopers. 20x40 ought to work quite well. I’ll check out Target to see if I can find any kid bath towels in interesting designs, but if not, a 12-pack of those hair towels ought to last us until the Firebug is ready to graduate to full-size bath towels.

Congrats on your thriving little fire bug! That said, don’t spend a mint on these. You may not believe me, but your little guy is entering those fast growth spurt years.
You’ll have these collecting dust in your closet (or wiping dust around the house) before you know it…

Since the 12-pack costs $27, this won’t exactly break the bank. And at that price, my guess is that they won’t be the most durable towels in the world, so by the time he hits that pre-teen growth spurt (which normally doesn’t hit until age 11 or later anyway), we may well have used them all up.
