Listening to NPR between around 4:00 and 6:00 last night, I heard a story told by a woman comedian. The story was about a music teacher who let the students bring in a favorite album to play a song at the end of class, this student assures another that the Rolling Stones’ You Can’t Always Get What You Want is an excellent choice, the teacher plays it … and the class hears nothing but the London Bach Choir section before the bell rings.
I’d love to download the story, and can’t find it anywhere today (although I seem to be able to find every other story I heard - on All Things Considered. Maybe this story was right before or after that show?).
I can’t figure out their player which is making me feel really stupid but if you skip to 28:10 here, you should be able to listen to it. I’ve made it play automatically once you’ve clicked on the link because if it doesn’t you have to listen to Ira Glass beg you for money first.
Thanks, all. WordMan, I knew where the story was going, but just the timing of her speaking over the music - I couldn’t play all parts by myself!
I did finally find the player (and the piece was called Start Me Up, which is clever but not helpful), but hadn’t figured out how to hear just that story. Thanks for that, Inner Stickler.
Hijack - if you ever heard Tig talk about her cancer it’s unbelievable. It really has to be heard to be appreciated. It’s $5 but it’s worth every penny. http://tignation.com/home/
