Okay… this is kinda driving me nuts. All I remember is it was a made for TV movie on A&E that was about this troop of Irish guys fighting in a civil war I think with the British?? The guy who played the leader was either Sean Bean or Sean Penn… I can’t recall which and I could be way off on those two. If anyone possibly could tell me the name of this movie would be a great help…
I wonder if that’s ‘The Irish Brigade of the Civil War?’

A Little Hijack>>
There was a movie with Tom Beringer about the Irish fighting against with the Americans during the Mexican American War.
Good idea but I don’t think it is… I distinctly recall it being longer than 30 minutes and more of an actual movie than a documentary. Despite it being on A&E.
eenerms: What was that one called? Maybe that’s it…
Have you also tried www.imdb.com? It’s one of my favorite websites.
Have you looked under the couch? When I lose movies I usually find them under the couch.
One Man’s Hero…1999 or 2000 I’m not sure. It was a regular movie.
**Obsidian, ** this sounds like one of the series of Richard Sharpe movies that A&E aired a few years ago. Sean Bean starred as an Irish soldier in the British army. There were probably about 10 movies, so I can’t pinpoint the exact one for you.
The Sharpe’s movies were Napoleonic wars, though-- though you could be right. Especially since they had Sean Bean.
Ahem…Sean Bean is Irish, however Richard Sharp of the Sharp’s Rifle series was English. The books were written by Bernard Cornwell, and are very entertaining I must say.
BTW Richard Sharpe starts out in India and ends up after meeting Napoleon in St. Helens
Sure it wasn’t Michael Collins with Liam Neeson?
You can look up Sean Bean’s filmography in IMDb (since I have this hunch he’s the guy you’re thinking of) and see if anything he’s done rings a bell.
“One Man’s Hero” was mostly set in Mexico and has several Mexican stars in it along with Tom Berenger playing an Irish soldier. (Based on a real historical event where Irish-American soldiers defected to Mexico.) It’s an interesting movie, but doesn’t sound like the one you’re thinking of (unless you remember the film being set in Mexico!).
Ooo Thanks people! It was the Sharpe’s movies… I did try looking at Sean Bean and Sean Penn’s filmography but I didn’t have that site and the sites I found mentioned nothing of them. Thanks people!
