Help me fix my driveway!

The end of my concrete driveway isn’t properly graded. It has a final drop that’s only slightly less than the curb.

A year ago we filled the end area with Quikrete. It didn’t last. We now have chunks of Quikrete that we drive on. Believe it or not, this is better than nothing. Without some kind of filler you have to pull in verrrry carefully, or scrape the bottom of the car.

Can I buy do-it-yourself asphalt somewhere? Quikrete makes asphalt patch, but it’s not strong enough for what I need. Or is there something else I can use?

As an alternative, if you don’t know a product I can buy, is there a good do-it-yourself message board where someone might be able to help me?

Thanks!

I would visit a big home improvement store, e.g. Orchard or Home Depot & ask them. But bring a picture of the driveway for them too look at. Be sure to ask them how long to let it dry before you ride on it. Also have you considered using cement bricks or red bricks?

You might want to check with the city before you do anything like that. I think that might be part of their domain if it extends into the street at all. also, if you have a homeowners association, they might be able to help you out. Otherwise, I’d go with handy’s suggestion and roll on down to the Home Depot, etc.

If you can rent one of those asphalt saws, the kind that are water cooled and angle adjustable, you should be able to cut a grade in your driveway in about 1/2 an hour.

Or, you can hire a contractor and keep all your fingers and limbs and such.

Hey everyone, thanks for your suggestions. I don’t want to hire someone to do it, because it would cost $400 or more. I just have to find something strong enough to drive on. I guess I’m off to the home improvement store.

Thanks!
