Help me get addicted to a new series

Yes. Deadwood was great while it was on. But after it was cancelled I just felt “cheated” somehow and I felt the ending of the last season was very contrived and poorly done.

Since then, I’ve tried to watch the episodes but could never sustain any interest. Every time I watched any of the episodes, I just felt like they were somehow lacking and I just couldn’t find any interest in watching for more than just a few minutes. Then, I always seemed to just shut it off. I don’t understand why. I cannot explain it. But I have always felt disappointed in the way that show was just abruptly terminated. I feel like the showrunner had something in mind that we would find very entertaining and when the show was terminated, we were unfortunately deprived of that and instead, were given some 2nd rate crap that did not pass for entertainment - not at all.

I’d like to know if other people can watch any of the later episodes and find some entertainment value in them - even on a “standalone” basis? I just can’t do that. I feel like I’m missing something but I just can’t figure out what it is.

How about Barney Miller (1975-82 ABC police comedy starring Hal Linden)? I’m almost through season 4 (AAMOF, I have reached [and passed] the point where the audiences disappeared; it was on the episode of 1/5/78), and it has lived up very much to what Sony said about it on its first three releases (“one of the funniest police comedies ever!”). The release was packaged very well too; you’re not going to be wasting money on discs that are hard to remove from cardboard packaging, and subsequently, you won’t be paying for scratched discs, because all the discs are in slipcases.

I’d just like to say that I don’t share your opinion about “Party Down”.

I do share your opinion of most other shows you have posted about. I almost always find your opinions about TV shows to be very similar to mine.

But, I just want to tell the people reading this thread they might want to check it out by watching an episode and coming to their own opinion about this series.

I found this show was not very entertaining or funny. But, I guess it takes all diff kinds of opinions to make the world go around and to give others the opportunity to draw their own conclusions and come to their own opinions.

I think this show would be very amusing for a very young audience - like close to teenage years.

Just finished watching the first four seasons – or series, as the British say – of Benidorm including the 2010 Christmas special. My English friend who passed the shows to me warned me it was an acquired taste, but I thought it pretty good. Definitely grew on me.
