Help me ID the >shudder< disco song

When I was a kid in the mid seventies there was this disco song that I enjoyed. (I was a kid - I didn’t know better) I remember the basic tune in my head, which won’t be much help, but it had the phrase ‘churchez les femmes’ (or is that spelled ‘cherchez’?) in it. Also ‘He lost his lady/____ ____ ago’

Can anyone out there ID this damn thing for me?

Gloria Estefan Song
Cherchez La Femme
(A. Darnell, S. Browder, Jr.)
Tommy Mottola lives on the road
He lost his lady two months ago
Maybe he’ll find her, maybe he won’t,
oh, oh, never, nooo
He sleeps in the back of his grey Cadillac, oh my honey
Blowing his mind on cheap grass and wine
Oh ain’t it crazy baby, hey
Guess you could say hey, hey
This man has learned his lesson, oh hey
Now he’s alone
He’s got no woman and no home
For misery, oh, oh
Cherchez la femme
etc etc

Wow astro. That was quick.

But is that the version I remember? Was Gloria a disco artist in the mid seventies? or is that a remake? (well, I have the names of the folks who wrote it now… time for more searching!)

Buzzard Savannah Band

I doubt it was Gloria Estefan - was Tommy Mottola that well known in the '70s?

Dr. Buzzard’s Savannah Band, IIRC.

The group’s full name was Dr. Buzzard’s Original “Savannah” Band. (One of the few hit groups to include a vibraphonist). The record, which peaked at #27 in the U.S. in early 1977, was actually a three-song medly: Whispering/Cherchez La Femme/Se Si Bon.
