Help me ID this song from the late 60s/Early 70s

I have had this song in my head for a few weeks now and I have asked people at work and everyone knows the song and can sing it. But nobody knows the name.

The lyrics are AFAIK

If you want it, here it is , come and get it
you better hurry cause it may not last
if you want it anytime, I can get it

da da da (dont know this part)

there must be a catch
would you walk away from a fool and his money
sunny

Hopefully someone will recognized, I cant carry a tune with my fingers very well

I think more than one group recorded it, but the Beatles recorded it: Come and Get It

Uh, actually Paul wrote, it demoed it then finally give it to Badfinger who recorded it to be used in the Ringer Starr movie Magic Christian.

Thanks for the help and thanks for the link to the lyrics site, I can use that almost everyday

The track by McCartney was available for years on many Beatles bootlegs and ended up being included on Anthology 3.

The story goes that Paul had arrived in the studio early one day and decided to cut this track. He played all the instruments, sang all the vocals, mixed and mastered the track in about an hour.

He told Badfiner (formerly The Iveys) to record the song just as he had and they would have a Top Ten hit. They did and they did.

Can you put a date to that story? No Beatle recorded alone until the sessions for the White Album.

Per Anthology 3 it was recorded on July 24, 1969:

How’s that?

Damn…I haven’t seen this movie for years, and I could have sworn that Peter O’Toole was the leading man.

Maybe I’m mixing it up with What’s New, Pussycat? Time for a refresher course on mid/late-sixties psychedelia.

Easy mistake: Peter Sellers and Ringo were the leads in The Magic Christian; Peter Sellers and Peter O’Toole were the leads in What’s New Pussycat.

Badfinger had the hit with Come and Get It.

In the US it was released on Apple Records (the Beatles’ label) on February 2, 1970 and hit #7 on the Billboard Top 40 .

In the UK it was released on 12/5/69 and hit #4 on the Melody Maker charts.

I always liked Pete Ham.
