Help me identify a show I saw in my youth

Back in 1998, 1999 I was watching TV land at about 3am, and a show came on I haven’t seen even the most remote reference to since.

The show was from the 60s or 70s

I remember the main character was a child, maybe 10-15 years old.

The other main character, and I believe his name was part of the title of the show, was a pile of seaweed with legs.

Sorry but that’s about all I remember!

Sigmund and the Sea Monsters?

Possibly, guess I don’t remember the monster having a face. But it must be what I was thinking of

James at 12?

Sigmund and the Sea Monsters was one of those Sid and Marty Krofft* shows with weird characters voiced by cartoon actors like Mel Blanc or Dawes Butler. There were a lot of shows like that from them and others in the 60s and 70s, like The Bugaloos, HR Pufnstuf, and Lidsville. Clearly inspired by psychedelic drug trips, they often had cartoons in the middle, or pop song breaks, in the style of The Monkees or Comedy/Variety Shows.

*They are both still alive

Yeah, I’ll pile on here. That pretty much had to be Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.
My favorite Kroft production was the Banana Splits. Though, at 7 years old when it first aired, I was probably right smack in their target demographic. I’m not sure I want to look at it with a critical eye today.
