Help me identify & make this Thai dessert!

While in the Netherlands in November, we ate at a great Thai restaurant called The Bird. I really enjoyed the desert I had there but I can’t remember what it was called and it isn’t listed on their menu. I’ve emailed them but haven’t received a response.

It was some sort of custard on top of sweetened sticky rice, served warm. Any ideas what it could be?

I worked at a Thai restaurant in high school. My boss made a coconut custard that sounds similar to what you’re describing. Alas, he never mentioned the Thai name for it. Good stuff, though!

Thailand has no deserts. Mountains and beaches and rivers yes, but no deserts. (Yes, I am a smart-ass. Why do you ask?)

Anyway, that’s a common dessert here, and I believe it is called sangkhaya, sometimes spelled in English without the H as sangkaya. Try googling that.

Oh geez, I can’t believe I messed that up twice in one post! :smack:

Thank you so much, that is indeed what I’m looking for.

Fixed thread title.

Thanks Marley!
