I once had an English teacher that recommended his students read a book that was Brothers Carrosel or something like that. He said it had a good chapter about God coming to earth and the powerful people in the world trying to stop him because they in turn would loose their powers. Could anybody help me find the title of this book and tell me if it is worth reading? Thanks
It doesn’t really fit your description, but perhaps you are thinking of The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. I’m way over simplifying here but it’s about brothers, murder, love, hate and the search for faith and God.

There’s a long chapter in the middle, which is sometimes read by itself as a short story, called “The Grand Inquisitor.” I think your teacher is thinking of that. Christ comes to earth again and is arrested by the Spanish Inquisition. The head inquisitor sentences him to death, although he realizes that it’s really Jesus.
