Help me identify this Fantasy/Science Fiction Short Story

There’s a short story anthology I’m looking for that I just can’t really remember much about, except it had this one story in it, and I was hoping somebody might know the name of either the story or the anthology. I read it in college, so it’s at least older then the mid-90s, but I think it was older than that anyway…that it was from the 60s or 70s. It’s a collection of short short (like less than 1000 words per story) science fiction stories.

Anyway, the one story I remember was about this really horrible man who was scared of dying or something and made a deal with the devil that when he died, he’d be reborn. It was told from his perspective. The guy was a real asshole, and he had this daughter he was constantly abusing both mentally and physically (and maybe sexually, I don’t know), and then when she grew up, he arranged for her to be put in this really horrible and abusive asylum for the rest of her life. Anyway, he dies and then realizes he’s going to be reincarnated as his daughter.

I’m just looking for the name of the anthology I found this in, or, failing that, the name of the story. I know that it isn’t “50 Short Science Fiction Tales”, edited by Asimov and Conklin.

“Give Her Hell” by Donald Wollheim

It’s in “100 Great Fantasy Short Stories” edited by Greenberg, Carr and Asimov Publication: 100 Great Fantasy Short Short Stories

Thanks!

Damn, you beat me! Great story, fun collection. I should dig it out and flip through it again.

Was the devil playing with time to get Mr. Mean reincarnated as his own daughter?

Probably. And the devil looked like John de Lancie.
