This is pretty obscure. But the forum has come through on some long shots for me before, so here goes.
Sometime around 1992 or so I picked up a collection of gay-themed writing in a book store and flipped through it. A piece that caught my eye was a faux memoir by John Wayne on his secret crush on director John Ford. A line I remember was when Ford said something like, “You know what I think, Duke?” and Duke answered, “That we should get hitched?”
Well, right now I’m on a Ford/Duke binge and remembered that and would love to find it again.
