Help me identify this show. Can the SDMB detectives help with the clues I remember? [Resolved]

No, and I’ll tell you why.

Because the day I found this show and watched the first episode, I also found and watched the first episode of at least seven or eight other shows.

See, I was working from a list.
THIS LIST…which…has since grown in proportion (with many more shows having been added since then). It’s a script list, since I’m hard of hearing and often use subtitles and scripts to help me know what was said if a show doesn’t have subtitles.
But see, I was using this list to FIND NEW SHOWS, one day About four or five years ago I did this…I started with A…went through all the shows and letters until about F or G.

As a result, I found a great many, NEW and INTERESTING (well, to me) shows that day and watched the first episodes of many of them, including (in alphabetical order, since that’s how I found/watched them): American Vandal, Angie Tribeca, Aquarius, Awkward, Baskets, Bull, Channel Zero, Deadbeat, The Detour, Eli Stone, Evil…about 5 shows I watched the first episode and didn’t care for, …and finally, about 4 or 5 shows I watched the first episode of and DID kinda like or have an interest in…

…this forgotten, mystery show being one of them.

So… it would stand to reason that the show I’m looking for is SOMEWHERE in that list, on that site, between the letters A through F…
…but I’m baffed as to why I can’t seem to find it, for some reason. I’ve been up and down that site’s subtitle list three times now and clicked on MOST of the entries from A through F and can’t seem to find it. Granted I’m not clicking on all of them, as I know certain shows it’s NOT (like Degrassi High) and I’m avoiding certain titles that I PRESUME it’s not (like Dominion)…but I think I’ve already looked at most of the others. Granted I haven’t done a DEEP DIVE of any of them.

But yeah, not made up in my mind. I do know what you’re talking about though and, yes, I’ve had memories like that in the past as well…or rather “memories”. Sorta like everyone remembering that the movie BIG ended with him seeing the girl again, in the school.
But that’s not what is happening here, I remember specific scenes. Like, it opened with the guy at his job, with his wife, at his desk…the last calm moment before everything turns to shit and his life is thrown into turmoil. I remember specific scenes, expressions, and the ending.

Where, I wonder, is a place…online…where one can ask this sort of question and have people who actually know a wide range of a lot of shows?? Rotten Tomatoes? Another site I’m unaware of? Hm

It’s probably a show nobody in this thread (as of yet) has seen before. I mean, typically you have to have seen or know of shows well to know what shows they are.
This is probably a show that ran in the middle of the last decade for, like, one or two seasons and was mostly unheard of…
My guess? I’ll find out what show it is,…eventually…
…and when I come in here and say ‘THIS IS WHAT THE SHOW WAS’ most people will be like “oh. Never seen or even heard of it”

Thus…that being the reason I haven’t been very lucky with this topic, haha.

I do thank everyone who has replied for trying on it, though. Don’t feel the need to stop. Ever Please. It’s driving me nuts trying to remember this show, haha.

Could it be The Imposters? When you look at the main plot of the 10-episode season (Bravo, 2017), it doesn’t sound like a match, but–and I think this may be part of the problem–we’re not looking for a series, but one episode.

And here’s the summary of the first episode from Wikipedia:

Ezra Bloom is newly married to Ava and works successfully in the family business until his whole life breaks down when Ava disappears with all his savings and turns out to be a con artist. Ezra is devastated until Richard appears, who also fell victim to Ava. Together they go in search of her. Ava, with her real name Maddie Jonson, is already preparing with her accomplices Max and Sally for the next assignment, which Max gets from their dangerous boss, the “Doctor”: Maddie has to con banker Gary Heller in Seattle.

There you’ve got the married guy who works for the family business and loses everything, but not due to any fault of his own. His wife is a con artist who’s scammed him. Then another guy who’s a victim of and married to the same woman appears, and the last scene is of them getting in a car and driving off to go find her.

Based on your recollection, if it’s not this series, it’s damned near copyright infringement.

Here are two guys in a car at the end of episode one of Imposters:

THAT’S IT!!! THE IMPOSTERS!!

Thank you SO much, nelliebly, you deserve a medal!

Oh MAN…I didn’t know if that would be figured out or not, was starting to think not.

The Imposters. Too bad only one season, that first episode was great…
…and yep, there’s the two in the car at the end, not getting along very well, as I figured. And @LSLGuy began to DOUBT me… :stuck_out_tongue:
I kid.
I’m grateful the show has been found again, thank you, all.

@nelliebly , how on Earth did you find it, come across it, or think of it?!

Um, I googled it. Then I did some research to get a little more info. It sounded interesting, so I watched the first episode. The End.

I’m so glad it’s the right one!

Wikipedia says two seasons.

I saw The Imposters when it aired on Bravo. It was pretty good.

I see the show you were looking for has been found, but for other questions like it, r/tipofmytongue would be the place to try.

I know, right?
Here’s hoping this topic actually inspires others–who had never heard of it BEFORE this topic was made–to look into it and give it a try.

Imposters was a cool show. I was disappointed that it didn’t get another season, particularly since the last episode set up an intriguing new storyline. On the other hand, if getting another season meant that Inbar Lavi wouldn’t end up taking her ridiculously hot self to Lucifer, then I guess things worked out as they should have.

Sadly, I can’t find this for free. It’s on Prime and Apple TV but you hafta buy each episode.

BTW, a big reason Imposters never got a third season was that Bravo (the NBC Universal cable channel on which it ran) switched to a mostly or entirely reality show format. A bunch of other cable channels that formerly broadcast original shows also stopped airing original programs.
