Help Me Learn About (Women's) Shoes

[QUOTE=rachelellogram;14842658Also, mnemosyne, crocs [aren’t just for the over-50, fashion-backward crowd]
(Imgur: The magic of the Internet) anymore.

Oh, I know - there are some really interesting new Crocs available, but I was thinking of the original style and the mental image of someone who has clearly given up not only on trying to be fashionable but on trying to look good at all. I wear original style Crocs at the lake and when camping (and I love Crocs sandals when paddling an outrigger or dragonboat) and they are useful for puttering around the house but I wouldn’t wear them to a restaurant!

I’m not terribly fashion-conscious (you should see what I’m currently wearing, as I had a ton of laundry and I just grabbed barely-matching stuff while I putter!) but I do try and make an effort to look good by choosing clothes that fit/suit my body and taking the time to think a little about the shoes I wear. It doesn’t mean having one of every style of shoe imaginable, but a couple of pumps, a couple of sandals, some boots (I have a minor boot obsession) and some sneakers are a good variety to have.

One more question: I’m seeing more round toes than I have in a long time, especially in boots. Like this. Are rounded toes fashionable again? (And oh my goodness I love these! Don’t worry, not for going to dinner. But for festival wear…*) Do the spring and summer shoes and sandals have round toes this year? (Pleaseohpleaseohplease!)

*Yes, they’d hate me on What Not To Wear.

No comment on the second pair but boots like the first are classic ones that are very common in Montreal. You’ll see them in shops year after year - or with minor variations that only incredibly trendy people would ever notice.

I have a short pair like that and a tall pair without the rouching. And a short pair without rouching, and a brown pair…

ahem. :dubious:

I used to write copy about colorblocking for clothing ads back around 1989-90 or so. It was just time for it to come around again. Just like some of those hideous wallpaper print blouses that are being paraded around these days. Very 60s and still very ugly.

But I did like, and still do like, colorblocking.

Oh, thank Og I’m not the only old fart who was all :dubious: about that.

I’m 29 and was :dubious:, too, so don’t feel bad!
