I am trying to locate an image of a famous modernist painting depicting New York buildings leaning in on each other. The painting was done in the early 20th century, probably by a member of the New York School of modernists. I associate it in my mind with Georgia O’Keefe, but I don’t think it was done by her. I’ve done all sorts of Google Image searches with no luck. Now it’s really starting to both me. Help!
I just leafed through my copy of Georgia O’Keefe - The New York Years (Alfred A. Knopf, 1991) and all I could find was ‘City Night’ (1926)
And, regardless of the title, Georgia didn’t do many cityscapes.
Thanks postcards. My mind’s eye says that is not the one I am remembering, but it is beautiful.
