If you come to Oxford, give me a shout and I’ll buy you a pint.
Fota, which has it’s own little station halt on the line from Cork - it’s only a few minutes by train and pretty neat.
If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s a ferry from Swansea in South Wales to Cork… takes about 10 hours! If you don’t like staring at the grey sea for hours on end, it gets a little boring though!
Though the beds are nice and it’s cheap. 88quid for 2, including ticket and 2 beds in a 2-person cabin. Since it goes from 9pm to 7am, it beats spending the night in a hotel!

Me and my wife went to Ireland for our honeymoon. STarted in Dublin dor a couple of days, drove down to Waterford for a day, then to Cork for a couple of days, the Blarney Castle, and then over to Kerry for a week. It was awesome and Kerry was easily the highlight, the Ring of Kerry, the Gap of Dunloe, the castles. I have been to Irland two other times, prior to being married. Dublin for one trip, so much fun, and then Northern Ireland, Belfast and Fermanagh with at tip to Bushmills and the Giant’s Causeway.
I love Ireland.
Another vote here for county Kerry in Ireland. If you want small towns, local charm, castles, and beautiful countryside (not to mention very friendly people) you could spend an entire week in Kerry and not get bored.
Thanks, everyone. We will keep you posted as plans progress, and hope to meet some of you.
