Help Me Remember a SF Book!

Really, a series of books, set on a planet far from Earth, where a girl lives alone with a robot helper. Her parents died when she was young; they were explorers of some sort. Her home is in a cliff overlooking a valley. One day, the robot reveals a room that he had hypnotized her into not noticing. In it are pitures of her family and such. She has been genetically altered somehow so she can survive more easily on this alien world…scaly skin, enhanced breathing, and the like. I remember in other books, she encounters a visitor to her plant, and the robot ends up going with him when he leaves…in the last one (I think) she deals with colonists arriving and settling in the valley (by which time she is much older).

Anyone know what I’m talking about? I read them about 10-12 years ago, at my Middle School library…my memory is a little fuzzy on the details…

Oh wow, I read this too as a kid…I didn’t realize it was a series, I read the book where the colonists showed up. I’m sorry I don’t remember the name, but I definitely remember it!

I believe this (the first book, if it was a series) is “Keeper of the Isis Light,” by Monica Hughes. I read it about that same age as well, and all I could remember was it had “Isis” in the title, but when I searched for it on Google, I found this book. The plot synopsis’ I found seem to match your description and my memories.
