Help organizing Gmail folders please

I like to organize my emails into project-related folders and when a project is completed, I like to keep it in existence, but hidden.

I have changed my Settings so that I don’t see the old folders in the list at the left of my inbox, but I do see all those old folders in the drop-down “Move To” menu.

I’d like that drop down to only show my “active” folders as reflected in the list in my inbox.

Can that be done?

Don’t need answer fast except to the extent that this has been annoying for years.

I don’t think that’s possible. If the folder exists, it will appear in the “Move To” menu.

I think DCnDC is correct. But you can move them down to the bottom of the list.

Suppose you have a project to raise the dead, and the GMail label is “Raise the dead”.

You go to the “Manage labels” screen. (I guess that’s what it’s called in English…)

You create a new label called “Z_finished”. Then you modify “Raise the dead” so that it’s a sub-label to “Z_finished”.

From then on, the “Raise the dead” project/label/folder should appear near the bottom of the “Move To” menu because, well, alphabet.

Thanks Heracles, that should work. I already float folders to the top by adding an “a”, I should have thought of the reverse.
