My last pair of white Etonics have given up the ghost and it’s time for me to get some more sneakers for work. I loved my Etonics because the company reinforced the heels and they withstood my extremely pronate feet. In other shoes, after six months of use, I end up walking like Charlie Chaplain.
Well, Etonic has given up the ghost and joined the choir invisible, and I need a replacement. Any suggestions? I realize I’ll have to buy some name brand, but some specific names would really help.
Oh, what I’m looking for is sneakers of the general walking-around type. No running shoes, cross-trainers, mountain climbing types (unless they’re suitable for office work). Any recommendations appreciated!
New Balance, according to their web site, makes most of their models with an eye toward anti-pronation. I tend to supinate (where the foot turns over to the outside,) and there’s only a couple of their running shoes I can use. The 580 and the 587 work for me, and the rest of the NB line is made for you.
Inserts are a definate plus. I’ve been off work for the last six weeks after having surgery to remove heel spurs caused by pronation, the plantar fascia nerve was also severed. According to my doctor, basically any decent brand of shoe will suffice, it’s replacing them more often that does the trick.
I should have started wearing the doctor made inserts in my shoes when I was first diagnosed as a teenager, alas I was young and stupid. Thirteen years of jobs where I was always on my feet later, I was finally wearing proper ones, but it was too little too late. Preventative care is much better than a surgical fix.
