I’ve just applied for a job at *** and I’ve been accepted for an interview but it says I need a ‘long’ and ‘short’ birth certificate (though it’s not completly clear if I need both). I think I only have one birth certificate tho, so what is the difference between a long and short birth certificate and what do they look like? Also how do I obtain either if I don’t have have them both?
Personally I only have and have only ever had 1 birth certificate. It is a slightly yellowing piece of paper, embossed in red ink, with the actual personal information on there in black ink. It is about 6 inches wide and 4 inches long. dunno about these ‘long’ and ‘short’ certificates.
If I happened to lose it I would be able to obtain a replacement from the registrar of births and deaths at the town where I was born
My Birth Certificate is the same, I’ve got some other documents from the time of my Birth and I’m wondering if one of them could be the short one.
Take a photocopy of the one you’ve got and trim it. Maybe they will appreciate the initiative and give ya the job
Isn’t the “short” one a copy - the “long” one is the original?
I’ve just found a site that says the long one has your mother’s and father’s name on whereas the short one doesn’t. The only one I’ve got doesn’t have my mother and father’s name on. I think the only solution is to ring *** up next week and see if both are absolutely necessary, cos’ if they are I’ve got to go to all the way up to Greenwich registry office in person to get one on time.
