What happens if a body shop starts work on someone’s elses car before YOUR insurance co can see the damage? Can YOUR insurance company deny payment to the party filing the claim?
You might say this would NEVER happen, but my situation is with a rental car that was FINE when I dropped it off. And, I am afraid the rental car people have all the connections (and money) to get their car fixed faster than my insurance can act. Please consider that the Rental Car people have yet to file a claim, but what if they act in such a way to get the car fixed (for their business purposes) and THEN call my insurance co? Would that be enough to dismiss their claim aganist me should they/their body shop “tamper” with the evidence?
Forces outside of your control like that do NOT void your insurance policy, by and large.
I’d suggest contacting my insurance company ASAP if I had your concerns.
If its not your car, you don’t control authorization for repairs. Your insurance company has experience in dealing with this type of claim, let them. If a rental agency is pulling the “we don’t deal with your insurance” crap, and is demanding thousands for repairs that seem way over the top, get a lawyer.
Consult a lawyer on this, but it might be a good time to consider closing the line of credit or debit card you paid them on, before you get an unexpected $2300 charge.
OK, I am confused. In the OP you say that the car is being repaired, in the next post the car was FINE when it was returned.
Seriously
I mean WTF? I have rented lots of cars from lots of companies, there is an inspection on the return. If no damage is noted by them at that point…
