I’d switch rooms, too. Could you do your everyday eating in the kitchen, or with plates on your lap in front tof the tv? The living room is a nice place to do stuff at a nice big table in a sunny room. The current dining room is dark at night, has more blind walls for mounting stuff on, and would be nicer as a media room.
If your sofa is Ikea, see if they sell separate new covers for it. If it isn’t, buy a new couch at Ikea, it is cheaper then reupholstering your old one. Even better, buy a second hand Ikea couch on craigslist for which you buy a new cover at Ikea. That is what I did.
Well, I was kind of wondering about people’s experiences with those non-IKEA covers they sell for IKEA couches. I’ve seen a few online, like this one here.
I thougth they were more expensive then the Ikea ones. I’d rather buy ikea covers second hand on ebay. Covers that someone bought new but ended up not using.
Also, I’ve had some bad luck with ordering Hendriksdal chair covers from an US seller on Ebay. She sold me her clean, unused Henriksdal covers as advertised, but it turned out the Henriksdal in the US is at least two inches wider then the Europe sold Henriksdal.
