Help us with our 20th anniversary dinner...

So my wife has decided that what she would like for our 20th anniversary dinner is to have a catered meal for three (me, her, our kid) in our house, complete with waiter, white tablecloths, etc. We wouldn’t supply or prep the food, just have it served to us.

How would I go about finding someone to do this? Call restaurants? Caterers? Culinary schools?

Anybody do anything like this before? If so, advice and stories would be greatly appreciated!

Try googling personal chef san antonio texas.

I got a page full of results. With reviews.

Come on…that’s too easy.

But if I just Googled, I wouldn’t get to talk to you fine people!

Appreciate the suggestion, Missy - that search term was really helpful as I’m completely clueless about how to proceed. Now I have a few good leads.

I think I’d try and go with a caterer that just does small, intimate groups and parties as opposed to one that does business and larger groups. Maybe that’s obvious but my aunt used to do this and she was able to provide so much more in the way of personal touches that insured the experience was memorable for the client. I’d image you’re looking for something more than a business buffet that’s been scaled down and I wonder if that’s what using a restaurant might result in.

Glad it helped!

An update for the three of y’all who responded to this thread…

Dinner is tomorrow (anniversary is Wednesday, but we couldn’t make the schedule work). On the menu are the following:

1st course
Fig and olive tapenade over warm brie with whole grain toasts

2nd course
Classic French onion soup

3rd course
Eggplant, mushroom, peas, and chicken in a tomato cream sauce with tortellini

4th course
White chocolate-cardamom panna cotta with dark chocolate shavings (custard-like)

It’s a mixture of French and Italian dishes because, what the hell, why not?

Will give an update as to how all this worked out tomorrow.

That sounds delicious. Congrats on your 20th. We celebrated ours last month!

I’ll be over for the fourth course.

Enjoy!

Late update: Dinner was awesome, the chef was just as great. We used Sassy Chef Heather for our meal, and she came in, cooked a delicious meal, and cleaned everything up. Heaven!

I strongly recommend doing this if you want to do so something nice, but don’t want to go out to do it.

Sounds like a great idea and a great meal. Congratulations on your anniversary.
