Help! Where does Netscape store its bookmarks?

I upgraded to XP on a new hard drive, so before doing that I burned my entire old hard drive to CDs. I was using Netscape 7 under Win98SE because IE 6 starting acting up (e.g. not remembering cookies) at one point; now I’m back to IE 6 under XP, which works fine.

Anyway, I keep searching for my Netscape bookmarks on the five CDs to which I backed up the old hard drive, and I can’t find anything. They’re not in the Netscape folder, or at least they didn’t seem to be (it was very late, after a 6+ hour upgrade process).

They’ve gotta be somewhere. Help! Must I use IE’s import bookmarks feature? I don’t even know where they are to begin with.

How about c:\Progrma Files\Netscape\Users(your name)\bookmarks.html

How about c:\Program Files\Netscape\Users(your name)\bookmarks.html

Nope, that’s not where they were, but thanks.

Do a search for bookmarks.html and it’ll pop up.

In Windows XP, its under Documents and Settings>(your name)>application data>netscape

Also, you don’t need to use Netscape! Switch to Mozilla, which is the sexy core of Netscape without the redundant crap. Or Firebird, which is even leaner and faster.

Ah. These locations are all for NT-type 'doze. In Win98, my Mozilla bookmarks are in c:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\Default User\2yba4urk.slt\bookmarks.html (I mean, duh.)

I imagine NS leaves them in a similar place.

Very similar. My Netscape bookmarks (under win98) are in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\gwqtt60n.slt\bookmarks.html

Somehow, everything we bookmarked in Netscape ended up in a Favorites (read: IE) folder. Strange.
