We have a small LAN using Win2000 & XP clients on a Linux server. The printer is accessed through my computer because it is a HP “Windows only” printer (jerks). One Win2k computer seems to be downloading .dll’s every time he prints, which is what is freezing my computer, I assume. I have deleted the printer and re-installed it to no effect. WTF? Any ideas?
No idea, because our company is still using NT. Now, in the infinite wisdom of MS, they decided to run printer drivers in the kernel. So, a faulty printer driver can feeze up your computer, and will.
Sometimes printer drivers function normally most of the time, except in certain circumstances when they bomb out. That’s why we call them buggy
