Help with a Sting/Police blues song. Live benefit album, maybe for Aids?

Back in the ancient times I had a vinyl album which was some kind of benefit, maybe for AIDS. It had a blues song with Sting on vocals, maybe with the Police. I remember really liking the song, but can’t remember the song or album name.
Anyone remember it?

Could it have been “Down So Long”? I know this isn’t the version you described, but could it be the song?

Yep! That’s it!
Thanks.
Just to be clear, there were other artists on the benefit album, not just Sting. The other two I remember are The Alarm and the Bangles.

The live benefit album was Live! For Life also with Stewart Copeland and Bob Marley. Live! For Life (1986, Vinyl) - Discogs

This is the song The Bangles did on the album. Really love that one too.

Oops. I just realized that the title of the song is “I Been Down So Long”, not “Down So Long”. What can I say? I haven’t listened to Bring on the Night for a good many years.

Actually, The Bangles did “Hero Takes a Fall” on that album. I think “Hazy Shade of Winter” was on “Less Than Zero”.

That’s it exactly! Thank you.

I’m old…memory not so good.
There are clips from Less Than Zero in the video I linked.

I only knew because I had the cassette way back when.

I’m surprised I remembered my password for this board.

I.R.S. A legendary label for sure

What board is this? WHERE AM I!?

So you thought of that name before Twitter?

Poop. I thought it was going to be “The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball”
