Help with Sitcom Opening Scenes - 80s/70s???

I vividly remember the opening scene to a sitcom, maybe 80s or 70s; however, I have no idea from which show it came.

The scene goes like this: Dusk or early evening, a car pulls up to a traffic signal/red light, four teenagers/young adults? get out of the car and proceed to run around the car and jump back in before the light changes.

I’ve heard Happy Days a few times and that was my original thought, but I caught a few episodes on Nick at Night and no luck. The opening scenes did seem to change each season, so maybe there’s a chance.

Any ideas. Please help!!!

You are describing an opening scene in one of the earliest years of “Happy Days”.

The opening changed every season I believe.

That was first or second season Happy Days, when the theme tune was Rock Around The Clock and not the later Happy Days Theme. The Fonz had a grey jacket then, not a leather one. And Arnold’s was called Arthur’s.

Yes, that was a part of an early “Happy Days” title sequence.

BTW: the “run around the car and jump back in before the light changes” stunt is known as a Chinese Fire Drill.

If your “drag” street was 4 lanes (2 each way), your car and an adjacent car could do a Double Chinese, where the passengers from each car would get into the other car.

And if you and a friend’s car stopped at a 3 lane traffic light on either side of a strangers car, you could both slowly start to back up. If you’re lucky, the driver in the middle will catch both of your backward motion in his peripheral vision and think he’s drifting forward. Watch his panic as he stomps on his brakes! Hilarious!
