Help with title of a movie about young artists in Manhattan

The movie was about several young artists.
All of them were taking themselves far too seriously, but they were also sympathetic characters, just young people trying hard to be serious artists.

One was doing well making huge cloud-like abstracts that cost a lot but were installed in elevator lobbies around Manhattan. He would talk about how the bright spot was moved from one painting to the next, like anybody was actually noticing.

One guy and his girlfriend went to a small theater with “experimental atonal music” which was just randomly hitting flower pots with small hammers.

One artist they went to see was obsessed with a single pushpin exactly placed in one wall.

One art collector was only interested in buying whatever was hot as an investment, then stacked art in a spare room out of view.

Any of this ring a bell?

It does, and now it’s bugging me. I keep thinking “Slaves of New York” but you’d remember Bernadette Peters playing “Eleanor”, the hat designer. Can you think of any of the stars?
