Hemophilia

A hemophiliac is a person carrying the disease hemophilia, correct? So what do we call a person who is sexually aroused by the sight of blood? Are there any cases of this phenomenon (“Oh, Jake, you’ve cut your finger off! Mmmmmm!”) or am I just strange?

One logical reason why Hemophiliacs are called such is because a papercut can cause them to die from blood loss. They naturally don’t have enough platelets in their blood and therefore should be afraid of any bleeding, internal or external. This includes bruises.

A person who is aroused sexually by blood is a Hemophile.
The suffix -phile indicates a love of, so, therefore, a person who loves blood in a sexual way is called a Hemophile.

…but I’m compelled.

Hemophiliacs are missing one of two clotting factors. Hemophilia A is the lack of factor VIII, and Hemophilia B is the lack of Factor IX. These are proteins involved in the clotting cascade.

They have plenty of platelets, they just lack the proteins to “turn them on” so to speak.

That is all.

Actually, external cuts, unless they are inside the nose or mouth, are relatively easy to deal with. Bandages and pressure will eventually ease the flow.
It is the INTERNAL bleeding one has to worry about.

The reason that the disease is called hemophilia is that a person with it needs frequent transfusions, and it’s a small jump (in the classical languages, at least) from “needs blood” to “loves blood”. ssskuggiii’s explanation would work if it were called “hemophobia” (phobia=fear).

By the way, welcome aboard, MetasexualJoy. I see that you were able to post OK, then.

Either, “Horny vampire wannabe,” or, “FREAK!”

Goths.

Why? Where in haemophilia do you find any reference, logical or otherwise, to paper cuts?
