Where was she born? I see a lot of cites saying America, but I can’t find one saying state or city.
No particular reason, just curious.
Thanks!
I think you will get all the info you need over here.Link
Not far from Jersey, actually:
From a geocities Queen Noor page
Born on August 23 1951 in Washington, D.C as Elizabeth Najeeb Halaby to an American -Arab family. Lisa’s dad was part Lebanese. Her mother was a Dutch American. Lisa’s father, Najeeb, was a former navy test pilot. He was also a lawyer who had been head of the Federal Aviation Administration under President John F.Kennedy.
In 1969 Lisa enrolled in the first co-ed class at Princeton University. She took a break during her sophmore year in 1972 to ski and waitress in Aspen, Colorado. She then returned to Princeton to continue her studies of architecture. After graduation, Lisa was offered a job in Australia to work on new towns. During her time in Australia, Lisa became interested in the Arab culture.
Wikipedia agrees with Shib .
Queen Noor (born Washington, D.C., August 23, 1951) is the fourth wife and widow of the late King Hussein of Jordan. An American of Arab, Swedish, Scottish, and English descent, the former Elizabeth (Lisa) Najeeb Halaby is a daughter of Najeeb Elias Halaby (1915-2003), a former CEO of Pan-American World Airways, onetime head of the Federal Aviation Administration, and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, and his first wife, Doris Carlquist.
Shib ’s source says mama’s Dutch, UncleBill ’s says she’s Swedish, Scottish and English.
I did some digging on King Hussein’s and her official websites, but they were no help.
Happy
From memory but to help avoid some confusion;
King Hussien had at least three wives, one after the other. The first was Queeen Alia, the second was English and Queen Noor is number three (I believe) Lisa Halaby - he was partial to a blonde, it would seem.
