My first impression was to consider her to be a mindless moronic little fuck. But then I read on, and they said she has a history of mental problems. Which begs the question: Why was she left to get pregnant in the first place? [and judging from a photo I’ve seen, she does, in fact, seem not to have it all together]… But that’s for another thread.
This is all very sad.
My bad. Although I did make a cursory check. Don’t mind me. Carry on.
First of all, it’s not a newborn tbat was died, it was a fetus.
Secondly, she didn’t want invasive surgery performed on her. She has the right to refuse medical treatment if she desires to do so, for any reason, even if we believe her reasons to be foolish.
We allow Jehovah’s Witnesses to refuse blood transfusions, even though it can possibly lead to their own death from blood loss. Yes, even if this Jehovah’s Witness is a pregnant woman and her fetus would get harmed by her refusal of blood.
I don’t see how this is any different. I believe this prosecution is entirely a political one. I knew even before I clicked on the link that this was going to be in a conservative state (like Utah or Idaho or the deep south). Big surprise.
This is a duplicate thread, as noted. I’m closing this one.
