I live in New York City; southern exposure.
I wonder what herbs I can plant indoors now. I had success with mint this summer, but it died several months ago. Any suggestions?

Basil, chives and parsley are easy. Pick up some small potted plants at supermarkets. Many different herbs can be grown indoors. Low light levels will make them grow MUCH taller than normal, so additional artificial light may be necessary. Good air circulation and lower moisture help, they keep mildew under control. Give 'em a bath every so often, and the bugs’ll go elsewhere. Nothing like good smellums to perk up your culinary masterpieces.
I harvested my chive patch several times in mid-winter last year. Not only will they grow in winter light, but freezing doesn’t seem to faze them
I’ve been growing thyme and rosemary on my windowsill with eastern exposure in NYC pretty successfully.
