In Republican Bizarro world, if you successfully defeated a candidate once, you should repeat your success by running against that candidate in every future election. This is why they ran against Clinton in 2000, against Gore in 2002 and 2004, and against Kerry in 2006.
Kerry whipped their butts in 2006, so I reckon they’re having another go at him in 2008. I think Kerry could beat them again, unless Hillary runs, in which case they’ll try to run against Bill Clinton again.
Because of Bush’s bullshit, I think a lot of right leaning fence-sitters were looking for a reason/strong candidate to sway them away from “having” to vote pubbie again, and were hoping Kerry would give them their out. But he ran such a fucked up campaign, the fence-sitters said “Well shit, guess we have to go with dipshit again.”
Dio, that’s why I think a lot of them are down on Kerry, they feel “betrayed”, in a somewhat twisted way.
