If one of those “snap judgments” was “I think I’ll stab my family”, and then you actually followed through with it, then… Yes. I’ll take that hit.

Do you think the girl did this without the influence of someone who was manipulative, strictly from her own machinations? Even as an adult, people do immoral and illegal things under the influence of maniplative agents. That does not make them fundamentally and irreversbly evil people from whom society is in dire need of protection.

Sad to see people compounding a terrible situation by braying for the death penalty to be applied to a 12 year old.

Fortunately Canada’s Young Offenders laws weren’t written by a blood thirsty mob, and this girl has a chance at becoming a productive member of society after her punishment and counselling. Yeah, I know, her parents didn’t get that chance, yadda yadda, save those sentiments for your next lynching.

Totally incorrect. My position is based on the highest-possible moral ground in the world: the written Word of God.

God has explicitly commanded the death penalty for murder.
“Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.” (Genesis 9:6)

The fact that she was 12 is irrelevant; she was old enough to know what she was doing AND to coldly plan a murder. Therefore the only possible correct punishment would be execution.
