My brother lives in Colorado now, but when he lived in Michigan one of his past times was going to a park where people traditionally fed birds seed from their open hands.
His first visit to the park he didn’t know about the birds and it was surreal seeing the first woman he encountered holding out her hand while titmouses, finches, nuthatches, etc ate.
If you have food, patience, and treat the bird good, it may take a week, others a month, others longer, it depends. Each bird is different.
