I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Hicks live in 1992 or 3. I first learned of his genius when a friend taped his One Night Stand special off HBO for me. I was hooked. The fact that we can’t hear Bill’s thoughts on world events today is troubling. However, one needs only to listen to his old routines, changes few of the reference points, and his work remains startlingly prescient. In tribute, I’ll be listening to the Marblehead Johnson CD.
