Honestly, when I first heard the announcement, the way he used “I” and “me” and what ever else you’re complaining about struck me as him taking RESPONSIBILITY.
Remember, that announcement was seen by the globe and we had just invaded another county’s territory without their permission. So, for all this whining about being a glory hog, I think it was important that he struck an aggressive posture (as in, “and I’ll do it again”) because Pakistan wasn’t exactly happy at the time of the announcement.
And, after reading through this thread, given what is going on in Iran. I would much rather Iran contemplate their actions in light of Obama’s use of drones and his authorization of a mission with only 50/50 chance of success. So, I’m glad he was a glory hound (if that’s how you need to view it), because it makes him look eager to do it again. Obama also doesn’t seem to have a huge taste for endless ground battles. He’s proven that he’s more interested in finding out who’s in charge, then taking them out with a single strike.
Honestly, I’d hate to see Romney win. I’d imagine Iran would view him as an easily manipulated pawn who’d send in a bunch of troops, Haliburton and Xe contractors. Iran has the advantage in a ground war and there are plenty over there that would be happy to fight it out for years.
So, if you want to call it ‘taking too much credit’ - fine. But, in my opinion, he was taking responsibility and that had an important impact beyond the birther’s small little world.
