Here's to you Mr. Special Olympics annoucer person.

I recently attended a statewide Special Olympics meet where I volunteer. It’s an annual event that provides joy and inspiration to thousands of special athletes, their families and all of us volunteers. It can be truly life changing.

This year, at the closing ceremonies as they were preparing to take the Olympic flame away for the next year, the announcer came over the PA system and said

Huh? I know what he meant but there must be a thousand ways to communicate the sentiment in a better way. It was a great way to pump up the crowd too. I’m sure that he was just reading from a script, but who could write such a thing?

I just had to get it off of my chest.

Well at least the “burning your dog” epidemic will end…

I’m burning your dog with the flame of hope!

That sounds like something right out of The Simpsons.
