Possibly someone can remind me: is there something in particular that Democrats are supposed to do when Republicans go low?
“Thank you, sir, can I have another?”
There are many things the dems can and must do to get tougher and respond to the rebubkis behavior over the last decade. I don’t know why anyone would call that “going low.” How is that a a two party system? The Dems have to learn and change.
You aren’t suggesting that they just go along while the other party in the system just unilaterally exploits their courtesies, are you?
I wasn’t talking about what the Party’s politicians should do politically. I was referencing how people who identify as “Democrats” or “liberals” should behave with regard to the turn of events. I was suggesting that, having spent the last eight years decrying what was perceived as poor behavior by “conservatives,” these people should act in accordance with what they spent that time claiming “conservatives” should have been doing.
I’m having trouble understanding the push-back I’m getting here. Is it truly the case that people believe that they are justified in behaving badly because that’s what the other “side” did? When did we become a people who set our standards for ourselves on the basis of what those we are castigating have done? :rolleyes:
Listen, I’ll do anything you say, just promise that you’ll never write another sentence like this one again.
<bangs forehead slowly on desk>
I’m not getting you. Dems need to be more activist.
The right is not distinguishing between pols and activists. Why are you? Why should anyone?
How is responding to this “poor behavior”?
I think it’s coming down to the definition of “poor behavior”, not to mention “decrying.” That’s not what I saw in the last decade. You are focusing on the appearance of effects when there are actual causes to deal with. They are not going away.
Isn’t it possible you’re just pleading for special treatment? That’s what it sounds like.
You have to do what works. It’s called politics.
We never have, and still aren’t. We’re focused on how to make the country *truly *greater.
Despite what Michelle said, I go along with “The high road is a fine vantage point to watch the world burn, but fighting is done in the trenches.”
