Sounds to me like the Republicans are reading some different, less positive polls and are trying desperately to get a few more votes in the Gay ghettos.

I don’t think this hurts GWB with his fundamentalist base at all.
The conservative/fundamentalist voter guides are already out with him listed as being in favor of a federal amendment. That’s what they will be carrying to the polls. A lot of them don’t even read newpapers, or think that newspapers are that “liberal media”, and won’t believe a word they read anyway.
Besides, what will they do, vote for Kerry?

It’s called slash fic because it is written for “masturbatory glee” regarding the characters involved, which are often characters from a popular work given unusual libidos, and the stories are identified by the inserting of a virgule* between the character names. For example, LOTR Frodo/Sam slashfic is almost a natural – canonical Tolkien goes halfway there.

No, but “not voting” is a possibility. In a race as close as this one, losing just 1% of the planned evangelical turnout could be decisive.
The left should have went after Bush a little harder on this stuff, IMO. If people are going to vote for someone because he’s such a great Christian, they need to know what he believes. He doesn’t know if homosexuals are born that way or if it’s a choice, he’s against abortion except in cases of rape and incest, and he thinks Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Didn’t he also backpedal after he said that the only way through heaven is Jesus Christ?
People who disagree with him on all these things are still voting for him because he’s a good Christian. It boggles the mind.
To get the support of “good Christians” all you have to do is dole out federal money to churches, whip up hate at all the right groups, and mention Jesus a lot. Bush succeeds admirably in all these areas.
