Cecil was judging Bush on 7 3/4 years of failed ideas/policies. You’re judging Obama on a negative 1/4 year of …well, nothing. He ain’t the President. Yet.
Bush has earned a lot more disrespect than is sent his way. Electing Bush turns out to have been the worst thing to happen to this country since the Great Depression. I don’t expect his loving and loyal followers to ever realize that, but the rest of the country does already.
Because Obama has had 0 years to be president so far, where as Bush has had 8 years, and last I checked he ran the country into a flaming wreck with his stupid war, war crimes (torture), fear mongering, and incredibly brain dead tax policy.
Bush is a fool and a monster. He deserves a war crimes tribunal.

He used the other hand to sign the bill making Islam the official religion of the United States. Darn unimpeachable signing statements.
Sigh… You Obashers really need to get some new material. There’s absolutely no reason to believe that anyone else taking office would have prevented Obama from single-handedly plunging the country into a recession. I quite take the point about the dignity due a “sitting President”, and hasten to remind that I have faithfully adhered to that principle throughout this administration. My expressed opinions are considerably more temperate as a result, as I am chastened by the dignity of the office to “tone down” until this coming January, when such limitations will no longer apply.
Suffice to say I am quite cross with him, and have some rather sharp things to say. The sort of things one simply doesn’t say about a “sitting President”.

Have we lived through the same 8 years? The only President I can think of that was as unsuccessful as Bush was Carter and we bounced him on his ass after only 4. No President since Buchanan has handled national crisis worse than Bush in my view. When the CIC is a dismal failure he does lose the respect of the nation. He is no God-king he is a failure that has seriously damaged the reputation of this great country around the world and at home.
One of the many differences between left wingers and right wingers is that left wingers are very quick to criticize their soon-to-be President. It’s amazing some of the howling that’s going on about his Cabinet picks! At least, their criticisms (those from actual left wingers and not right wing rabble rousers posing as left wingers) stems from a desire for things to be better and not loonball nutso crap like his birth certificate or antichrist hallucinations. Normal Liberals and sane Republicans are generally taking a wait-and-see attitude even if they have some qualms (like me, I’m very unhappy with the thought of Eric Holder as AG, and I don’t like Hillary Clinton at all, but I’ll give them a chance).
Sane Republicans can see Bush’s shortcomings and flaws and mistakes, that’s why a lot of them voted for Obama or didn’t vote at all because they saw what a frightening ditzbat Palin was. Right wingers would poke their eyes out with red hot pokers before they’d admit to any major Bush mistake or that Palin would make Bush look like Ghandi.
