Hey, cool new bug is discovered

It’s the largest aquatic insect in the world:

Article and pic

At first I couldn’t make sense of that object to its right because of the scale. Then I read the caption - that’s a chicken egg!

Or it’s a humming bird egg and the size of the insect has been exaggerated.

Memo to Self:

Do not go swimming in Sichuan province.

Memo to self: Do not go to Sichuan province, period.

If they cook it, do they call the dish “Sichuan chicken”?

21cm (8+ in.) wingspan, according to the article.

I have successfully warded off the urge to click on the link. Bye.

It’s just a giant dobsonfly. I’d love to see the size of the hellgramite that came from, though.

A big old dragonfly, with pincers.
That could take your finger off.

That’s some Temple of Doom shit right there.

Holy shit.

Aaagh! check out the link to the heaviest insect!!

‘It’s as heavy as three mice and even bigger than some birds.’

… but does anyone else think it looks surprisingly cute chomping on that carrot??

I won’t believe it until I’ve seen it alongside a banana.

I’m sure it would be happy to bring you one.

How does something that big go undiscovered?

By leaving no witnesses.

Once it’s cooked, they all taste the same.

Have they come up with a name yet? If not, I nominate “Samsa”.

Geez that is frightening.

That thing came straight out of Jumanji.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
