Hey, I didn't know it did that!

Mundane And Pointless, or About This Message Board? Not really sure…

In the lists of threads in each forum, if you click on a number in the “Replies” column, it’ll give you a list of everyone who posted in that thread, and how many times. Hunh. How long have I been visiting here, and didn’t bother to find out what those links did?

Thanks for pointing that out, Jenaroph!

Now I’m on the list!

I can go to sleep now. I learned something new today.

cool.

That’s how we kept a running tally in the infamous “A” thread awhile back.

Good times, good times…

I’ve heard tell, but never experienced it firsthand. Now I’ve lost my virginity. I think I need some flowers or something.

This was really important. It wasn’t that I just wanted to see my name on the list or anything.

I knew that.

Cool, I’m there.

But here’s a question…in what order are the posters listed? They’re not in chronological posting order, nor are they in alphabetical order. Any guesses?

No idea. The most frequent posters are at the top of the list, but in cases of ties, I don’t know what the breaker is. Poster number, perhaps? Amount of bribe money sent to the admins?

And in reference to Homebrew, twikster and Bruce_Daddy  I figured there were people who knew this, but never felt it was worth posting about, as it’s really really M and P. Not me, I’m pretty lame.

I’m going with bribe. Post count and registration date don’t seem to be a factor.

Amazing what I’ll do to avoid lugging the trash up from the basement and editing photos, eh?

It’s one of those things I had noticed before, but just didn’t care about and forgot until now. Hmm, maybe I’ll take a look again …

Stranger and stranger … I just checked order, and I can’t figure it out! Don’t think it’s by post count, it’s not join date, it’s not alphabetical … IT’S RANDOM!!

Holy crap that’s neat! It would appear that the order is most replies at the top going down to least. Like for example:

saramamalana 12
Jenaroph 10
Lockz 3

I knew it and sometimes click on it to see how often I’ve posted to a thread to make sure I haven’t posted 25 times while everyone else has only posted once.

That seems to happen a lot in certain threads. Heh.

I knew that, and astounded my friends at another message board with the knowledge. (their forum setup is similar to this)

I told someone, “You don’t have to go back and count all his posts in the thread. You can just click on the number beside the thread, and that will tell you how many times people have posted in it.”

Her reaction: " Cool Flammi!! I had no idea that was there!! He’s up to a whole 10!!!"

Other reaction: " Well I’ll be damned! (shuddup people) I didn’t know that…if anyone’s confused, in the list of threads, click on the number in the ‘replies’ column and you’ll see what Flammy means."

“I cannot BELIEVE the admin didn’t know something! I don’t feel so comforted now… kinda lost… kinda freaked, kinda … LMFAO!!!”

“Me, haha, I didn’t know either, haha.”

My reply to the reaction: “No problem! It’s just a feature from other boards I have been on, that are similar enough to this one…”

I’m on another forum that has that feature, and I assumed it wasn’t turned on here. I was excited when I saw your post, but Ican’t get it to work here. I put “straightdope.com” in my AdSubtract, and it’s still not working.

I feel so…rejected. sniff

I’ve known about that for ages. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, but what about when people are tied for X number of posts? How is the tie-breaker resolved?

I knew about that. Then I forgot it until now.

I don’t see a use for it.
