Hey, I'm (kind of) in the paper today!

Our local paper did a story on breastfeeding rates in NC and came to a La Leche League function to take pics of us nursing. I’m not too surprised that the editors chose to focus on the thin blond mom, but there I am behind her! And you can see my baby’s face at least. :stuck_out_tongue:

What are you looking the other way for? All we can see is the back of your head. But your baby looks gorgeous!

I know, I know. But it was an actual meeting where we were trying to get stuff done, and I was talking to someone. The photographer must have taken several dozen shots of me nursing and with me looking in her direction. Don’t ask me why they chose this picture!

But yeah, my baby is gorgeous - thanks for noticing!

Neat! I went to my first LLL meeting today. I have 7 weeks to go until I have my first baby, but our Bradley class instructor hounds us until we go to at least one meeting. I really liked it. It was very informative and fun and I loved all the baby-love and breasts being whipped out un-self-consciously. I mighta skimmed the article – why are NC rates so low, I wonder?

And where are your breasts? There supposed to be out there like beer taps for the kid.

They say Blonde Lady’s kid is 16 months. Is it a wonky angle, or is it my imagination that that’s one huge 16-month-old? I’ve never had a kid, so I’m no expert, but that one looks like my brother circa age 3 or so and he was big for his age.

Gorgeous baby!!! I’m sure you’re gorgeous too, your baby must have gotten her looks from you

HI BABYYYYYYYYY!

Well, all I can see of you is a laughing baby and a lot of curly black hair, but I like your baby and your hair

Ducktail, maybe Blonde Lady baby’s dad is a football player. The baby boy who joined the university’s kindergarten on the same day as my friend’s baby was bigger than the biggest kid there - their looks were so opposite it looked contrived, this tiny black-haired, dark-skinned, brown-eyed tot and the blonde, blue-eyed giant born on the same day.

Yes, of course, as a La Leche League member, I normally take off my top, twirl it around my head, and yell, “Hey, everyone, look at my nipples” before latching the baby on. I must have been having an off day.

Ducktail, I think Rob might be on the high end of the growth charts, but I also think that the picture does make him look bigger than he really is. I was actually surprised (and pleased) that they didn’t shy from showing a kid older than 1 nursing.

And thanks for the compliments, I never get tired of hearing how cute my kids are.
