I just finished listening to another lovely performance of my upstair’s neighboor’s “vaccum cleaner and stomping around” duet.Wow I haven’t heard that since they vaccumed last night at 12:30am.
We live in a house divided into an upstairs 1-bedroom in which Rich and Heather have resided since about August if my memory serves me correctly and the 2-bedroom downstairs in which my sister and I live. They seemed nice enough at first, I helped them move some stuff in and they gave me a couchbed and we exchanged some movies in the past. But then they got weird.
Around September my sister and I began hearing strange noises through the floor. A sort of whirring/gurgling combo. We heard this noise at all hours day and night. When we asked them what it was they gave the classic reply of “I don’t hear anything, Must be from your apartment.” Around this time they would also frequently start banging on the floor. At seeminly random times they would start stomping, or hammer or punch the floor for a minute or two and then stop, then start again later. They still do this and we still have no clue what it is. This is also when the vaccuming started. Keeping your place clean is one thing but running the vaccum multiple times a day every day is a bit much. Especially at 2:00 in the morning.(it’s they’re new record as of this weekend)
Oh yeah I forgot about they great music they play too. I don’t know who it is but I can tell you that they are both big fans of country and heavy metal. At least thats all I hear them play. The loud music has gotten so bad that now all I can do is leave the house and leave my stereo on at full blast. (I did that last week, left a cd on repeat and left for 2 hours with the volume turned up all the way.) Yeah, I guess the floors only direct noise from the upstairs down to us because they have never complained even when we have asked if we’ve been to loud.
There are all sorts of new and intetesting noises that come through the floor on a regular basis. Sure there is the standard thumping, stomping, fucking(complete with screaming on her part) but last night there was a new one. Sawing. It sounded like someone was sawing a board in half by hand. this was around 11 . Rich , Heather I have to tell there is a wonderful book called a dictionary, This tome is filled with all kinds of different words, you should pick one up because I am sick of hearing your conversations. Here is an example of a common one I am usually privy to at least 2-3 times a week:
R:Fuck you!
H:no fuck you!
R:shut the fuck up, you can get the fuck out of my fucking house!
H:why are you being a fucker, I didn’t fucking do anything do you?
R:you’re pissing me the fuck off.
H:What the fuck is your fucking problem
so on and so forth, yelled at the top of they’re lungs.
Yeah there are the standard living noises which I can live with but these people have gone beyond that. They alternate between total silence, and being so loud that the pictures on the walls shake. Time of day means nothing to them. It can be 10am or 4am and the volume is still the same.
We used to tell them in a calm and friendly manner if they were being too loud, usually they would ask us when we ran into them. Now its gone too far , all complaints have skipped them and going straight to the land lord. Maybe he can do something but I doubt it.
Wow, I’m glad to get that out of my system.
