Hey! Noah Wyle got my Xmas card on ER!

Hey guys,
I know I’m tootin’ my own horn here, but a card I wrote/ drew for Hallmark was on tonight’s episode of ER.

Very minor spoilers ahead if you didn’t see the episode…

If you watched, it occured when Wyle/Carter got his care package from back home about 50 minutes into the episode. The card he opened up “that everyone signed” was MY card. Cool, huh?

OK, OK… So it’s not like I was actually on the episode. And you could barely see the cover in the brief seconds it was on screen, let alone read it. But it’s fun to know that somewhere in Hollywood, some set designer decided to use a card I wrote as a prop on the show.

So, maybe I seem a little pathetic, getting all worked up over this… But heck, those 10 seconds or so that it was on screen is probably the most I’m ever gonna get out of my 15 minutes of fame, so don’t mind me doing a little dance in my TV room.

That’s seriously cool. Heh heh, now you have to buy the DVD when it comes out.

Congrats, Serious Art! My daughter and I were watching and she reminded me, “Hey, do you think that’s the card?!” To which I said, “but it’s not green!” We did see it though fleeting the vision was. Congratulations again.

That is really, really cool. Do you have a link to the artwork somewhere?

Haj

That’s so cool! I love it when that kind of cool thing happens for people.

I turned to Mr. TeaElle and said “Hey, I know that card!!” He looked at me like I was an idiot.

Congratulations for your 1.5 seconds of anonymous fame anyway, seriousart. Very cool.

Unfortunately, no. While I might have all the required skills to have a card I drew to be randomly choosen to be on a tv show, I haven’t the know-how to post something online.
However, if someone’s willing to post it for me, somewhere, I’ll gladly email them some jpgs (once I find the orginal files or scan the printed card).

Any takers? I’ll check back in tomorrow.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys!

Captain Soren of the Vigilant will answer the Council’s call. Err, something.

I’ll do it, as long as the files aren’t too big. mikahw@yahoo.com would be the best place to send them.

I did the same thing, sorta. I remembered the thread, and thought, “Hey, I bet that’s the card!”

Ditto for me. When he opened the “big card” I knew it was yours. And the cool thing was that I wasn’t looking for it the way I was when we had the “false card alert” a few weeks back.

Plus, “big card” figured into the plot since it was how Carter found out about Romano’s death.

Very cool, seriousart! I’m glad you let us know about it beforehand.

I followed the first thread on this, but forgot about it last night.

Very cool! Congratulations. You should try and get in touch with someone at NBC and see if they’ll mail you back the actual card used as the prop.

Man, I almost watched last night too. I made it about 30 seconds until that gal said “EVERYBODY likes the Dixie Chicks!” and turned it off in disgust.

The “Everybody likes the Dixie Chicks” line was from the end of the episode with Carter rescuing Luka in Africa. There were several parts of last night’s episode reused from previous episodes, so we could pick up where they left off.

Hey Mikahw
Thanks for the offer to post them. I’ll send you some res’d down images right now. Let me know if you have any problems with them. They’re pretty small (3 files, between 80-300k) but they can be smaller if need be.

Let us know where you put them- and thanks again!
As a caveat, guys, remember this aint Shakespeare, nor is it a Rembrandt.
So don’t get your hopes up too high…
It will show you what the fictional staff of the ER chose to send to Dr Carter, though.

Congrats! If the pics are too big for Mikahw to host feel free to hit me with 'em. (email in the profile)

That’s awesome though. I’d be thrilled to see anything I did featured in anything, much less something as big as ER.

That is ultra-cool, seriousart. Congratulations!

Just out of curiosity…does that mean you work in that Hallmark Center in Kansas City? I visited it once.

I think it’s cool that it was much more than “in the background somewhere” as you originally thought it would be.

Neat for you.

Okay, here you go.

Thanks so much, Mikahw. Very kind of you to post those.

I knew that had to be your card the second I saw it on screen! Actually, I guessed it would show up once the package from the ER was mentioned, and people started opening things up! That is really cool!

I think you should try and contact NBC to get the one they used!
