And what about Ferris Buellers Day Off?
I really wanted to be a female Ferris.

Ick. I still have arguements with my wife over that movie. I say Cameron should have gotten the girl. Ferris, after all, had his ego he’d already married.

One nice thing about the 80’s being over. I did meet my wife in 1997.
One of the VERY few surviving photos of the hubby in the 80’s- he was blond and did his hair just like the lead singer of A Flock of Seagulls! ROFLMAO! His hair was even bigger than his sister’s!
Did anyone else listen to the band Sparks? My first concert ever! Did an ok semi-hit single with Jane Weidlin from the GO-Gos called “Cool Places.”
And did you watch MV3 to see music videos, because there was no cable where you lived? Except for maybe ON TV or SelectTV?
Just saw them in concert yesterday (POP Trash tour) at Jones Beach Theatre. Surprisingly good show (damn sight better than the Cure, who put on a moody, brooding show devoid of much interest and little of the 80s), although Simon does look more or less like some British Newscaster. Lots of people up and dancing to the tunes (80s and 90s). And yes, I know they’ve a lot more albums than most people think, but some we’d be better off forgetting.
I was the first person in my middle school (6-8 grade) to have a Members Only jacket. I even had two. I bounced between dressing preppy, and dressing like the boys (light colored Oxfords, not tucked in, sleeves rolled up). Also, it was during those years that Neon was big. Really big. And I had several colors of legwarmers.
In high school, I went more alternative in my dress, but never seemed to get the hang of it. I wore big clunky shoes before they became popular, and kept wearing them long after they’d stopped being such. Silver and gold clothing was in (I went silver). Hair with wings was way in, sometimes to the point of plastering the sides back with gel and then curling the excess back forward. I could never get the hang of that, either, which I suppose I should be thankful for (no pictures!).
Around Senior Year, I stopped trying to be trendy, and grew out my hair all one length. I do remember a short trend towards safari clothing, but I didn’t go there. But I always pegged my jeans (the fold and roll discussed previously). I graduated in 1989.
Oh GOD…I just remembered this! I always wanted this game, but my parents would never buy it for me!!! I did a quick check, Phil, and there are some over on EBay.
And Swiddles…yes! Peg leg jeans! You were only cool if they were folded over, then rolled. Of course my mother hated it, so I’d have to roll mine at the bus stop.
