I thought the board was going to free posting? But we still have to pay to resubscribe? Without notice? There is only one explanation for this: simple goddam communism…
I didn’t get a notice either but at least when I resubscribed today, I still got the cheaper rate.

Reading your rant, I decided to check when my Sub expired. Which was yesterday.
I’m a bit annoyed, too. I’m pissed that I lost my charter status. I’m paid up. Can I please have my charter status back? PLEASE??
Maybe it’s my eyes, but every single one of you save jtagain still shows as Charter Member.
If you read the announcement at the top of every forum, the board is going to free posting with ads. If you want not to see the ads, then you have to subscribe. My brief experience in seeing the ads this morning convinces me that the $7.49 subscription fee is totally worth it because those are some obnoxious and enormous motherfucking ads.
Yeah, i got no notice either. I just happened to remember, yesterday, that one of the discussions about changes to the Board had mentioned that most subs expired on May 10. I went and checked my User CP, and found out that i had about 12 hours to resubscribe.
Keep in mind that TPTB extended the last subscription by 5 (?) weeks or so. Your subscription would have ended several weeks ago.

The same thing happened to me this morning. Obnoxious ads right away. I signed up, getting the $7.98 rate. I don’t know if I lost charter status or not, at least until this posting hits.
They’ve always sent an e-mail before. Why not this time? Are we on free posting? I re-subbed yesterday because I thought free posting wasn’t ready yet. And I would probably have subscribed anyway because I hate ads. I was wondering why there was no notice.

Same here. I thought the search function had been disabled again when I logged in this morning. A couple of hours later the reminder arrived and like others here, the sight of the ads was enough to make me pony up the $7.48. So was it really a glitch? 
I was thinking I was going to not pay and live with the ads. I mean, banner ad at the top, no big deal. Then I saw the full screen worth of google ads following every OP and I ponied up my $7.50 very quickly.
I got my warning email this morning. Expiration date of my subscription? Yesterday. Good job, guys.
For the record, I forked over my $7.48 (Charter Member @ half price, thanks to the past kindness of several generous Dopers) last night, with 2 hours and 12 minutes to spare to retain posting privileges until the Creative Loafers get off their chaises longues and make some decisions about free posting.
