We didn’t even run…we came back!

They have to cut these guys some slack.
Wow, the Lord DOES work in mysterious ways!
“You were right, Warden. Salvation lies within.”
I read a newspaper article a couple of years ago about a guy who broke out of jail every Friday night and went to the local Stop ‘n’ Rob for a six pack and a pack of smokes. He finally got caught something like six months after he started doing this.
I s’pose I may be nuts. But I just gotta say that these guys should get their sentence reduce some. Maybe a vandalism charge for the fence…
Of course, Rogersville has a pop. of about 4,200, fifty or sixty miles from Knoxville, median income is half what the national average is, and 21% of the population is below the poverty level. So if these guys were in for something mild like drunk-n-disorderly, running away would do them no good whatsoever. Might as well enjoy a beer.
My Grandad worked as a prison guard at a maximum security prison. But the prison was originally minimum security prison. When it was minimum security the inmates were allowed to go to the local pub! Then at 10.30 the landlord would ring a bell and they would all go back.
Where’d they get the money? Is it normal for inmates to carry or have access to cash?
Aren’t inmates allowed to have really low paying jobs for small amounts of money?
